Purpose

Interested in learning about a large patient-centered cancer health outcomes data resource? The National Cancer Institute (NCI) supports a research resource linking the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) cancer registry with Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (MHOS) data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to enable investigators to conduct patient-reported outcomes research. SEER-MHOS offers opportunities to examine cancer health outcomes, such as health-related quality of life and activities of daily living, along with clinical and epidemiologic information.

To improve investigators’ understanding of what SEER-MHOS is and how to use it, the NCI is offering a webinar that features a discussion from expert users experienced in conducting SEER-MHOS research. This webinar highlights their SEER-MHOS analyses and publications and provide guidance on how to develop new SEER-MHOS research topics. Webinar speakers provide a wide range of tips for potential users highlighting all aspects of the research process, from concept and application development to manuscript submission.

This session provides brief background information of the SEER-MHOS data resource, 10-minute presentations by three experienced users, and a lively panel discussion in response to audience questions.

Intended Audience

This webinar is intended for extramural investigators at junior, mid, and senior levels, interested in learning about and using the SEER-MHOS data resource. No experience with SEER-MHOS is necessary.

For background on SEER-MHOS, please visit the SEER-MHOS webpage.
