DietSys Software Version 4.0

DietSys is designed for the analysis of food frequency questionnaires which are in the format of the Block-NCI HHHQ. DietSys can be used to enter and analyze data from the 1992 Block-NCI questionnaire or customized versions of the questionnaire. Some modifications to the questionnaire may require additional analysis using other statistical packages such as SAS.

DietSys is a DOS application. It can be executed from Windows, Windows 95 , or Windows NT. You can execute the DietSys software from a DOS shell or you may create a windows icon. If using an icon (or shortcut), you must set the start directory to the directory with the installed DietSys program files.

To use the DietSys software follow these steps:

1. Download
   • install.exe
   • hhhq.bin

   Both files should be stored in the same directory. For example, C:\TEMP

2. Run INSTALL

   You will be prompted for a directory name. If you are a current user of DietSys and are upgrading the version, enter the name of the directory containing your current version of DietSys. If this is a new installation enter a directory name. C:\HHHQ is the recommended directory. The installation program will create the directory if it does not exist.

   INSTALL will decompress the files necessary to upgrade your version of DietSys to the latest version. If you INSTALL to a new directory, all DietSys files will be loaded.

3. Read README.TXT

   README.TXT is a text file installed with the program files. This file contains a list of all changes made to the software since version 3.0.

4. Run DIETSYS.EXE

   If running from Windows (including 95 or NT) be sure that the directory with the DietSys files is your start directory.
